On 2–3 October 2025, National University “Chernihiv Polytechnic,” with support from the WIN-WIN EDIH project, held the international conference “Free Software in Education, Science and Business” (FOSS 2025). For security reasons the conference was held online, drawing more than 100 participants.
Speakers included Alkin Tezuysal (Altinity Inc.), who spoke on 30 years of evolution in open-source databases; Mykola Marzhan (Canonical/Ubuntu) on database readiness assessment; Andrii Kosachenko (PortaOne Inc.) on geo-distributed database systems and latency challenges; Zsolt Parragi (Percona) on PostgreSQL encryption extensions; Yevhen Patlan (Percona) on software supply chain security and compliance; and Artem Mylytsia (Grammarly) on infrastructure monitoring and observability.
On the second day, participants presented more than 30 student and academic papers, covering topics from cloud server management and project management tools (GitHub/GitLab) to Python performance analysis and virtual laboratory architecture.
Despite power and internet outages, participants took part in lively discussions throughout. Recordings of the talks will be published on the university’s YouTube channel.
